…a Christmas present not chosen by AI. With the amount of online content being written by a plethora of AI tools, I wonder how many gifts will have been chosen or even shortlisted by say…Chat GPT. For those you who haven’t been tempted this year to outsource your gifting to the bots and still crave a human recommendation, you’re in the right place. If a loved one of yours wants a bag for Christmas, here’s what’s been seen, touched and made the bag shortlist.
For under £100
If you know someone who has a new year’s party to go to, this beaded mini bucket bag from Zara is elegant and comes just in under fifty pounds at £49.99.

For someone in the family who has a hobby and needs to carry some items around, for example of a change into gym clothes, or knitting, drawing etc, why not choose this casual oversize quilted crossbody bag from Cos. It comes in a couple of different colours from this grey denim to leopard print. Price £85.

For the fashionistas
If you have someone on your gift list who is a dedicated follower of fashion then they will know that one of 2025’s bag trends is a bag with a bold design on. This leather bag from Mango is full on zebra print with a touch of elegance. Price is just under ninety pounds at £89.99.

And for those of you who want to gift a classic, why not honour the Creative Director from Loewe, Jonathan Anderson, who was honoured with the designer of the year award at this year’s fashion awards. The mini puzzle crossbody is less formal than its larger puzzle bag cousins. Price £1990.

If you want to drop a designer handbag brand under the Christmas tree this year but need it to come in under £500 may I suggest the Tabby crossbody with quilting from Coach? The Tabby comes in various finishes; I’ve opted for the quilted finish to give it a winter vibe. Price £325.

To finish off the designer label options, let’s lean into the world of Italian fashion houses and head to Fendi. The baguette bag looks like it is here to stay and this option works for adding a touch of je n’sais quoi to weekend or a night out outfit. Price £2550.

For work days
You can’t go wrong with a clean lined tote bag for the commute to work. A brand favourite in this space is Kate Spade and the Hudson tote is perfect as it can hold more than it looks. I’ve chosen a colour, northern pine, that breaks from the classic black or brown. Price £425.

For those who love a backpack, the roll top backpack is tried and tested from Stubble and Co. People I know who have one love the side zip for easy access to the laptop. It comes in 15L or 20L, but 15L works well for a daily commute. Price £110 and comes in 5 different colours.

For those who love detail
To finish off the top 10 bags for Christmas gifts that have been seen, picked up or even tried and tested, here are two bags that give a little extra details for those who love the touch of a bag.
Firstly, from Aspinal of London, the camera bag with a woven detail, is an ideal purse bag for a weekend away in either the country or a new city. This navy and ivory option is in the sale and will cost £280.

And for someone who you know loves a night out, head to Mint Velvet, for the poppy chain leather ribbed bag with a detachable shoulder strap. Available in black or gold. Price £140.

There’s really no need to dread buying someone a handbag as their Christmas gift this year. It’s will be a welcome change from a jumper or perfume. You can rest assured that the above options are available this season, instore or online – there aren’t any chat bots at work here referencing seasons of old.
Hope the above shortlist helps.
