A key bag trend for spring and summer is the short-strap bag. The SS’23 runways featured models carrying small to medium handbags – there wasn’t a crossbody in sight. For those of you who think handbags are too formal, and will never be persuaded to take off your long strap cross-body bag, may I try and seduce you? Here are five favourite ‘alternative’ top-handle bags that rock a modern vibe.
Now that’s what I call colour!
A little ‘Something for the weekend’ feature covers the stand-out bags spotted on instagram. This weekend’s inspiration for fashion bag lovers is a range of bag shapes that have earned attention for their colour and enduring appeal. Investing in a bold, bright-coloured bag, bought on a whim whilst skimming instagram can bring regret; the bag arrives and looks different in shape and shade, and now you’ve got to return it. Up here in the northern hemisphere, I’m seeing more and more pink appearing in the stores for this spring and summer. The good news, is you don’t need to channel your inner Naomi Campell as seen at the Versace S’22 runway show, looking fabulous in a pink trouser suit, to channel your inner fashionista. Here’s a quick edit from some cities in Europe where there’s lots of pink bag inspiration for you, with lots more over on insta @thebagwhispers_.

If you are looking for ways to support, here are some destinations being championed by fashion brands.
