The honeymoon period is officially over and the photos from the most snapped wedding of the year, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex (aka Prince Harry and Meghan Markle), have been poured over. And the bag of choice held by their many guests, on this special occasion, was the understated clutch bag.
Nearly all the celebs that were spotted entering St George’s Chapel in Windsor were sporting the hand held clutch bag. Whilst the tradition of matching your bag to your shoes is no longer a requirement (thank goodness), there were clutches to contrast and to match the dresses.
The popularity of this little old bag hasn’t been missed on instagram. So for those of you who are yet to bag your clutch for your event diary this summer, and are looking for inspiration, here’s something for the weekend – the top 5 clutches spotted on instagram this week.
If you are sitting comfortably, or should I say standing clutching…
From Esin Akan two tone clutch bags (note the side panel detail) with handy inside pockets so the contents won’t go flying around when you hit the dance floor. Known as the Sicily.
From Furla, the Magia is customizable with interchangeable straps. Love this way of carrying a clutch bag with your hand slipped in behind the strap. I’ve had a problem with Furla in the past with their name badge falling off but I’ll think I’ll forgive them as their leather is goregous.
From Hèrmes the Jige Clutch comes in a variety of accent colours to add the eye catching candy to your outfit. This soft leather means this clutch can work on a casual day or at a show off event. This year the designer logos is boldly on show (check out a Fendi photo shoot), so why not join the club?
From Launer of London, a firm favourite of the Royals, this classic and pretty in pink is The High Society. It’s leather luxury in your fingertips.
Finally, last but by no means least, from Tamara Harvey, she will deliver the splash of colour to add that freshness to an outfit, with the Grace clutch bag. Comes in a limited edition two tone bag too and is just that big bigger is you just can’t edit your contents!
So out of the 5 favourite bags spotted on instagram this week, 3 of the designers are from the UK and can be found in my home city of London. Great to see them holding their own with one of Italy’s finest and the darling of Paris.
Before heading out to this summer’s wedding, don’t forget to grab a clutch – yes I said clutch and go strapless!
