This week’s Sunday Specials on instagram are helping us get beach ready. This is no April Fools nor am I talking about getting beach body ready on Easter Sunday – pass me another mini egg! But now that it’s Easter, we can start counting down until we are on that beach break, with sand between the toes and the bags that can hold your sun essentials.
I salute the following brands that have braved the late Spring and are inspiring us with bags ideal for the beach. Firstly you will find the top 5 bag designers followed by a couple that were so close in the final selection of my favourites but didn’t quite make the cut. Thank you, it’s been a long winter and we are desperate to dream of summer days.
If you are lounging like a lizard on a beach rock…
1 Nico Giani is a master of shapes and bold designs with a colour palette that will catch the eye. If you are travelling light and want quick access to the contents of your bag, check out the woven range. Find Nico Giani bags at Harvey Nichols and Selfridges.
2 Marcia Kemp founded Nannacay and the bag collection is full with bags that have been hand woven. This straw bag is bang on trend with its embellishments and multi colour fringe – add a pop of colour to that black swimsuit. Find on Moda Operandi etc.
3 Roll up, roll up, the classic bamboo and now coloured laser cut acrylics in various shades from Cult Gaia. Don’t just enjoy the sea breeze, let it flow through you bag too. Just keep your contents of the size to ‘mind the gap’. Selfridges are now stocking.
4 Turquesa Barcelona is known by a few people in the know. They were the first to champion the circle bag which we can now see in many designer collections. They’ve been about straw but this year they have brought us the string bag. Shop at Facebook.
5 Jessie Randall and Brian Murphy are the duo behind Loeffler Randall. Equally well known for shoes; I love their bags for the summer. This straw tote can be easily folded into the luggage and taken on any holiday. Shop direct or Net-A-Porter.
There they are – 5 favourite bags ready for the beach this summer spotted on instagram. But before I sign off there are two brands, that whilst they weren’t beach ready with their shots this week, I want to put on your radar.
Firstly I love the woven styles found at Bimba y Lola and Truss NYC. Take a look at these two bags – ideal for those who like to carry that little bit more when spending a day on the beach. And finally, whilst Tea and Tequila don’t yet make bags big enough for the all the essentials for a day at the beach, I will be the first to let you know if they ever do. This duo span London and Mexico. The designs they use on their clutches and shoulder bags would have me first in the queue for a tote beach bag. I’ll go bananas for them – quite literally! Often found exhibiting in the UK at London Fashion Festival and of course online.
