It’s that time of year where different retailers across the world start announcing their launch dates for various sales – news just in, November sales have already begun this year. What we were once introduced to as Black Friday, following Thanksgiving (back in the US around 2005), the big discount day has even surpassed the extension to the following Monday. And, thankfully designer bags are included in the discount mix. So here’s what to expect in the bag sales in various locations around the world.
Online
Net A Porter has always been a hotly anticipated Black Friday event as they include current season designs, not just previous season’s collections. Bookmark the site as the details are yet to go live.
Farfetch on the other hand has already started to give us a taster. You can pick up discounts of up to 50% across various accessory designers. Jil Sander, Salvatore Ferragamo, Moschino and Philipp Plein bags have all been spotted.
And if you are looking for entry designer brands, head to ASOS who are warming up for Black Friday by offering 20% off brands such as Love Moschino and Steve Madden. Use ‘Asoslove’ discount code at checkout.
Department stores
Across the UK, John Lewis is already in sale mode. Grab a discount on Michael Kors, Coach, See by Chloe and for a bit of quintessential British vibe, Aspinal of London.
The timeless department store, Liberty of London is warming up for next weekend offering lower prices now on Anya Hindmarch, Stella McCartney and the sleek bag designs from Mansur Gavriel.
In the USA, the go-to department store for designer bags is Sax Fifth Avenue. They are offering discounts on Rebecca Minkoff, Rejina Pyo, Marc Jacobs and Tory Burch – all great brands for bags for a special occasion, especially if you have a wedding in the diary next year.
Down under in Australia, David Jones the department store has kicked off their sale with some big bag names; Balenciaga, Alexander McQueen, Versace and Isabel Marant – you lucky bargain shoppers in Australia and New Zealand.
One of my UK favourites is Selfridges. However whilst they don’t embrace Black Friday they bring their own twist. Formerly known as ‘Christmas come early’, they have offered in the past 20% across their brands. Fingers crossed for this year as they do have a wonderfully varied range of bag designers. See you at the Fount Bar for some liquid refreshment!
Direct to designer
Whether you are state-side or elsewhere in the world, Kate Spade has begun their Black Friday event, offering 25% off. Their event offers the ever useful camera crossbody bags and look out for the Smile bag which is a popular shape for SS’22.
Keep your eyes peeled over the next 7 days as you will be sure to pick up a designer bag at the best price possible. And if you want to be super sharp, here are some further tips:
- Some of the bag styles of S’22 were spotted early this season, so brush up on the forthcoming season’s styles and see if you can grab a bag that will be on trend for longer
- Before making that purchase, estimate your cost per wear – honestly ask yourself how many times will you use it
- If you are at college or university studying make sure you are registered for a student discount at somewhere like studentbeans.com who will offer enhanced discounts, for students only, over the next week, starting from tomorrow
Here’s to getting your hands on a designer bag at the best price possible!
