I’m not a fan of sharing an edit of next season’s trends too early; it can be frustrating waiting for new collections to come in or having to preorder without even seeing the bag IRL. But let’s break with tradition because November is a mix of sale events; from Singles’ Day, Black Friday to Cyber Monday. Between now and end of November, plenty of fashion stores will be offering great discounts. And my top tip for sale shopping is to research the future trends, because sometimes you can get a bag that rocks a key shape and colour of the next season and you’ll be able sashay into spring or summer having saved some well-earned cash. So, with a week to go before some big discounts are due to appear, here’s the rundown of the SS’22 bag trends as set by the top fashion designers.
Below is a feast of visual inspiration from the catwalks in New York, London, Paris and Milan, but first, here are some keynotes to remember:
- minimalist bags with clean lines (even for Coach!)
- it’s all about the return of the shoulder bag AND shoulder bags with top handle options
- go for one colour
- if you want more detail than clean lines, consider an accent trim or whipstitching (Altuzarra and Mulberry)
- shapes are both angular and curved – lots of choice!
SS’22 designer bag edit

There you have it, your SS’22 bag trend preview. Keep your eyes out for one-colour bags with minimalist lines, be it curved or straight, and think shoulder with a top handle handbag style.
Good luck in the sales. Here’s to finding a bargain for next year!
