The holiday break may have had us trying to influence the future #bandersnatch or guessing whether Idris Elba will throw on one more grey shirt and bring Luther 6 to the movie screen, but no predictions are required about the fashion styles which will be hitting the stores soon.
And there’s no need to seek them here or there, for all dedicated followers of fashion, welcome to your guide to Spring/Summer styles 2019! Here are the key 7 trends spotted on the catwalks and the inspired accessories styles which should start appearing instore and online by February.
1 Neutral zone – colour blocking your outfit with creams, tans and beige. Bags to match: Bags in similar tones to your outfits. Here you can see the neutral colour blocking in effect; Chloe handbag, Dior Saddle crossbody, Burberry belt hag.
2 The Big Short – keeping the shorts longer in length in 2019; are you ready to wear cycling shorts? Bags to match: Belt bags, drawstring bags in a single colour and free from logos or mini size bags. From left to right, APC, and two mini bags from Jacquemus.
3 All tied up – tie dye is back on dresses with bright colours and bleached dye for denim. Bags to match: For the denim look opt for a woven bag, be it straw or leather. For tie dye, my top tip: choose a bag with a contrasting colour. From left, Marques Almeida, Calvin Klein and Prada.
4 Now that’s what I call the 80’s! Big shoulders, neon colours are back but don’t wear together! Bags to match: Round/spherical shaped bags OR the transparent PVC totes. Louis Vuitton, Rejina Pyo and Moschino featured here.
5 All the frills and thrills. Embellish your outfit with fringes, bows, ruffles. Bags to match: Small sized top handle bags for contrast or continue the frills on to the bag. From left, Longchamp, Balenciaga and Versace.
6 Women at work. Boiler suits and combat trousers. Bags to match: Bucket bags and oversize bags carried or worn crossbody. From left Emporio Armani, Max Mara, Stella McCartney.
7 Weave through the season. Lace or crochet tops and dresses. Bags to match: Keep it natural with straw/rattan weave bags OR if you like to stand out, contrast with a top handle box bag. From the left, Chanel, JW Anderson and Dolce and Gabbana featured here.
There you have it, the opening guide to spring/summer 2019 designer handbags from the runways. Before you go out shopping have a quick catch up on on the bags to find in the sales.
