With tough times ahead and many of the European countries back in lockdown, here’s a shout out to the small bag businesses. A few years ago I reviewed Etsy as a destination for the small or emerging bag designers. So I’ve returned to see what’s available and wasn’t disappointed. Here are 5 bag designers and sellers who have bags that have caught my eye. So if you’re sitting comfortably, let’s take a whistle stop virtual tour!
From week to end
This smart top handle bag is the Aloise made from brown vegan leather, which works on weekdays and weekends. It is priced at £24.99. The cross body strap is made from patterned webbing for comfort and is adjustable. Not forgetting you can personalise your bag by adding your initials. The bag is from NicholaJaneDesign, based in Northern Ireland.
Step into Spring
One of the colour trends for SS’21 is pastels. So why not get ahead and sort your spring wardrobe and secure a classic camera crossbody bag, in this lovely Italian yellow leather. However, if pastels aren’t your preferred palette, don’t worry Branding House have many other options to choose from. You might get distracted by their scarves collection, however, this disco camera bag is great value at £39.
Elegantly casual
The pouch bag has been a statement style for AW20/21, just look to Bottega Veneta’s collection. This faux leather cloud clutch bag comes from seller Rianna Phillips who is all about personalising items we love. Based in Manchester in England, she offers this bag at £34.
Bejewelled beauty
Every girl needs a beaded clutch bag for those special occasions. This rhinestone clutch bag is ideal for wedding outfits too. There are a few colour options and is priced at £25. The seller is Boux Jewels Shop who have lots of adorned products.
Up and recycle
This colourful shoulder bag is from Wyatt and Jack. If you want to do something to improve your sustainability credentials, why not opt for a bag made from a bouncy castle, I kid you not! This company brings joy through their recycling of bouncy castle and deckchair materials and upcycles them into bags. This rainbow messenger bag is £74.
The five bags featured here are just the tip of the iceberg of the small businesses trading on Etsy with bag options. Once you get used to the filtering options on Etsy to navigate through the plethora of makeup and tote bags, you can find bags that will add something to your wardrobe.
