Here it is, one of the most popular round ups every season, the best buys for bags on trend for autumn and winter 2018. All of these beauties are under £100. These top 10 are as a result of popping into the high street stores to grab a feel, all in the name of checking quality and then comparing with online stores for value.
To start with I kept an eye out for:
- Top handle bags – especially with a front flap. They came into their own this summer and we aren’t ready to let them go yet with their space and versatility (as they offer a shoulder strap too)
- The crossbody bag – we love the ability to go hands free. This season the style is a shorter and wider strap to give it that contemporary, street style flavour
- The bucket bag – can’t stand them myself but apparently some of you love the idea of chucking everything in and don’t mind swirling the contents around for at least 5 minutes when trying to reunite yourself with your keys!
So quite simple, from a style point of view – 3 dominant shapes but where the shortlisting became serious was reviewing the materials, the designs to work with the fashion styles and of course the colours for the season.
Without further ado, here’s the top 10 fashion bags for autumn winter 2018, all under £100!
First up, the beaded bucket bag from Zara at £39.99. The only reason why this bucket bag made the list is because it’s a mini size, so you won’t spend ages outside your front door trying to fish out your keys (have I shared how annoying bucket bags are)! Also if you can’t afford a beaded bag from the designer Shrimps, this is a worthy alternative.
Get your animal instincts on display with this monochromatic leather crossbody bag from Mango for £49.99. One of the few chain strap crossbody bags that made the selection. Bags with 100% chain straps are difficult to wear for more than a couple of hours before the chain starts making an imprint on your shoulder. Well done Mango for such a great price and finish.
Not such a great photo I know but thanks to French Connection it is possible to find an interesting silver bag under £100. The Rae Mini Quilted crossbody bag is £75 and can work as a day or evening bag. I prefer evening due to its smaller size and the chain strap (where FCUK is the fabric section for the shoulder on the chain strap)!
If there is one thing to remember this season is colour and neutral can be as impactful when worn against this season’s tweed trend. This D ring leather crossbody comes from Cos priced at £89.
And now to the pop of colour. Blue and teal hues aren’t just for summer. Against the tweeds and the silks, this blue-green hue Lula recycled leather bag from French Connection makes you feel good on many levels, not just because it is £85. Love the shape and double zips that opens on both sides to get to the bottom of the bag tout suite.
And staying with colour, match a yellow or ochre bag with your silk skirts or blouses this winter. This bag is for those who can’t or won’t curate their handbag contents and need more space. The top handle and the wider shoulder strap keeps this bag from feeling left over from summer. Find Paige top handle leather bag at John Lewis for £99.
Here we go, back to black! If you can’t resist a black bag this winter, check out this number from Kurt Geiger, the Blink Chain Handbag from Carvela for £69. Yes, it has a fabric section of the handle – comfort check! The croc effect will contrast with any other leather in your outfit. This bag can hold more; look closer, this bag just might blow your mind. Love ya, I need ya. If you pop down to Kurt Geiger, you’ll spot Jamiroquai and his signature moves. Loving the campaign KG!
Now if you need small steps to move away from black, consider this navy number. It’s the snakeskin effect leather crossbody bag in navy from Massimo Dutti for £69.95.
And this next bag ticks a lot of trends – the colour palette, the animal print effect and crossbody. It also has the different length shoulder straps and I don’t mean adjustable, there are two strap lengths to choose from. Find the Embossed Leather Crossbody Bag at Zara for £89.99.
Last but by no means least. From Charles & Keith we finish on this mustard colour crossbody bag with metal strap detail. Introducing the Grommet for £59 online.
There you have it, the top 10 fashion bags for this autumn/winter 2018. Try and stay away from the black bags if you can as there are so many great colours on the high street.
