The latest bags for 2020 – best bags to spot

As January’s pay packet has arrived, I’m finding a few friends asking “What bag for spring and summer should they be on the look out for this year?” Well I’ve written 3 articles so far on what SS’20 bag styles that will be popping up (scroll to the end for links); from what bags are showing up on instagram, what styles were featured on the SS’20 catwalks, as well as a round up on the key fashion trends.  Now that the New Year sales are pretty much finished.  you can start to see the refreshing spring bag trends on the shelves and in the searches on shopping websites.  So where should you head to…

To save you time, here are the latest bags or new entries for 2020 and you can rely on me; this is a list to suit all budgets.  This list isn’t influenced by kickbacks from the retailers – this site is commission free and therefore totally unbiased.

Oversized tote bags

On the left: from Cos (opened in 2007 and shops worldwide), this shopper style tote bag has a modern make over.  In leather for £150.

On the right: from Cult Gaia (famous for bamboo ark bags), this statement tote, the Roksanda beach bag will fit a laptop. Mix of leather and cotton.  Price £385.

Crochet and leather weave

It’s a bit early for the full crochet options, however, the leather weave is popping up in lots of places.  On the left: From & Other Stories, a weaved leather bag with detachable shoulder bag.  Price £120.  In the centre: From Stella McCartney, the Falabella mini crocheted shoulder bag.  Price £685.  On the right: From Toast, the Yvonne Waska mini pouch shoulder bag is only £39.

Be bold

there are three colours to go bold with; the zesty orange and lime palettes and the colour of the year, as noted by the colour masters Pantone, is a classic blue.  And the red carpet at January’s Screen Actors Guild awards had lots of female artists in these colours.

In blue: the Cassetta Porté Travers Cuir from Pourchet Paris. This leather bag has an envelope top opening.  Price £145.  In orange: from Anthropologie the croc effect satchel shoulder bag.  Has detachable shoulder strap to carry by its top handle.  Price £88.  In green: from Manu Atelier, the micro cylinder lizard embossed shoulder bag.  Price £180.

Go dotty

Polka dots are back, whether you want to go big or small.  On the left: from Kate Spade, the Remedy Bikini Dot small top handle bag.  Price £265.  On the right, from Accessorize, a large cotton woven polka dot tote bag.  Price £20!

Keeping it neutral

On the left: The soft leather, popular pouch bag style from Bottega Veneta. Price £2100.

On the right: A braided leather shoulder bag from Mango.  Price £36.

Pure Brilliant White

Last but by no means least…the summer favourite, the colour white.  On the left: from Staud, the Ronnie knotted nappa leather shoulder bag.  Price £270.  On the right: from Zara, the mini city bag with the trendy micro replica bag attached to the handle.  Price £26.
