A new month, hello March, and my something for the weekend celebrates one of the key summer trends; wear white from head to toe. Each month I take time out and trawl the ‘gram to find you the best of the bags – it’s my five favourite bags of the week on instagram. And whilst the media tries to distract us with all things viral, here’s my distraction, giving you something to look forward to, the summer! Whether its a casual weekend away or a special occasion, when wearing white, the top tip to keep on trend, is to white out your accessories. And here are my top picks!
Hand or shoulder?
A brand from down under in Australia, Farrah + Sloane is all about femininity. Ideal for a glamorous event choose between the Lola or Margot bags (left and right respectively). Both come with detachable shoulder straps. All you have to decide is whether you like a long fringe (hello Lola) or a shorter fringe (on the Margot). This is how you swing your white shade!
Le Blanc
When you peruse the photos from the SS’20 catwalks, nearly every fashion editor, when referencing the white trend, put a spotlight on a Valentino bag. Say hello to the Garavani bag, #supervee! Be bold and white bright this summer.
Whole or holes?
Crochet, string and woven bags are back from the 1970’s and if you want to keep your sustainable creds in place, consider the Brazilian brand Nannacay who ships worldwide. This is the Melissa bag which is one of the more interesting hand crafted bags for the summer.
Baguette style
Say bonjour or ciao to Elleme, who designs in Paris and manufactures in Italy. You’ll see lots of soft pouch bags this spring and summer. This is the Vague bag in white, in the revived 1990’s baguette styling with a soft shoulder strap. Smart or casual summer days are sorted.
It’s a classic
You may think you know Le Pliage from Longchamp, but this classic can still surprise. Don’t think of the nylon saddle brown top flap and handles. Think leather, all in white. Le Pliage cuir mini is a summer-long bag with its detachable shoulder strap. Take it anywhere as a handbag or shoulder bag!
Now the ‘white out’ trend doesn’t have to be difficult. Grab a long white shirt and loose skirt or trousers. Dress it up with belt and heels or keep it casual with flats. The white accessories are easy – there are lots of bags with good quality, strong styling to choose from. Be pure brilliant white this summer!
