High street hits at the start of 2021

Fashion has long been accepting of incorporating high street labels into your season’s wardrobe and bags are no exception. And, the start of the year is often a time when we set ourselves goals, one of which might be to spend less or to save more. The good news is the high street labels, once terrible for good looking and quality bags (zips to tear your skin off, if you’re not careful) are now a delight for on trend bag fashion. So with the spring and summer 2021 fashion trends in mind, here’s my top 10 of high street hits for bag fashion.

Oversize it

This fabric shopper is made from recycled polyester, in a dusty brown, which is a key neutral colour for spring. I love the knotted strap and its proportions with a hidden magnetic closure too for peace of mind. Price £49 at Cos.

Monochromatic magic

The black and white outfits are back for this spring and summer and the bag to match can be found in one of our most well known high street stores, Marks & Spencer. With its boxy shape, it will work with all most all styles of outfit. This crossbody bag is £25.

Timeless

A white or off-white bag is a staple for any summer wardrobe, however, white bags can be a bit hit or miss when bought from the high street. Well thanks to Jigsaw, the Denbigh leather crossbody bag delivers, not just in shade but a in a classic saddle bag shape, which will help it endure for future seasons. Price £110.

Lovely leather

One of my favourite high street destinations for bags is Mango and with this leather baguette bag they do not disappoint. So versatile and the price is only £35.99. Enough said.

Cool lines

Stripes were spotted across the runways for SS’21, notably Christian Dior. And matching a bag couldn’t be easier with this clutch. Recommend you move quickly on this because this safari stripped beaded clutch from Whistles is in the sale and now priced £39. You’ve been warned!

Street style

Creating that sense of see through, is this mesh covered shoulder bag from Zara. The thick shoulder strap and metal ring just oozes a street vibe. So if you aren’t ready to give up your white trainers (sneakers), get the monochromatic look by adding a black bag. Price £25.99.

Baby blue

Soft hues and pastels were spotted in many designers’ collections and shades of blue made it in Pantone’s shortlist of colours spotted across the designers’ collections for SS’21. Try this croc embossed leather shoulder bag from &Other Stories with its two straps (shoulder and crossbody). Price £85.

There you have it, my top 10 bags hits from the high street. How to find quality bags on your high street, that are on trend for SS’21, is no longer a challenge. Yes, the shops may be shut due to lockdowns, but after a thorough browse of their virtual stores, there’s plenty of choice. This top 10 brings you something for each of the trends with 8 out of the 10 bags under £100 – you can’t say fairer than that for a bargain shop!
